Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you want to know about sugaring — what it is, how it compares to waxing, and what to expect at your appointment.

Sugaring vs Waxing

What is sugaring?

Sugaring is a natural hair removal method that uses a paste made from sugar, lemon, and water. It is applied at body temperature (never hot) and removed in the direction of natural hair growth, which makes it gentler than traditional waxing.

How is sugaring different from waxing?

Sugaring paste only adheres to hair and dead skin, not living skin cells, so it lifts hair without pulling at the surface. Wax adheres to skin as well as hair, which is why waxing can feel more aggressive and cause more redness.

Is sugaring gentler on sensitive skin?

Yes. Because the paste is applied at body temperature and only bonds to hair, sugaring is generally a better option for sensitive skin, eczema-prone skin, and conditions like rosacea. There is no risk of burns from hot wax.

How long do results last?

Most clients enjoy smooth skin for three to four weeks. With consistent appointments every four to six weeks, hair often grows back finer and more sparsely over time.

Is sugaring more painful than waxing?

Most clients find sugaring more comfortable than waxing. Hair is removed in the direction of growth (not against it), which reduces the snap-back sensation. Sensitivity will always vary by person and area.

What to Expect

What happens at my first appointment?

We begin with a brief consultation to confirm the service, your skin's history, and any sensitivities. The treatment area is cleansed, the sugar paste is applied and lifted in small sections, and we finish with a soothing post-care product. Expect to spend a few extra minutes on your first visit.

How long does a session take?

It depends on the service. Brow shaping is around 15 minutes; a full Brazilian is typically 30 to 45 minutes; full-leg sugaring runs 45 to 60 minutes. Your booking confirmation will list the time blocked for your appointment.

What should I wear?

Comfortable, loose-fitting clothing is best, especially after leg or bikini services, so freshly sugared skin is not rubbed by tight fabric. For underarm or brow services, anything you would normally wear is fine.

Will it hurt?

There is some sensation, especially the first time or in delicate areas, but most clients describe it as much milder than waxing. Sensitivity decreases significantly with regular appointments as the hair grows back finer.

How often should I book?

Every four to six weeks is the sweet spot for most areas. Booking on a regular cadence keeps results consistent and makes each session quicker and more comfortable than waiting for full regrowth.
